"I'm with you on this notion, the first thing that came to mind was the difficulty in keeping these clean - gotta keep the help busy somehow.CAD and 3-D printing has not really helped create really good and innovative design and no amount of flowery text or claimed awards can gloss it over."
"Gorgeous timbers, tragic result. I'm sure any real Japanese carpenters cringe at seeing this.An insert of wood called a Dutchman is the way to fill a void in a wooden surface. It's not only the plastic filler that's offensive but the bench design is boneheaded. What sort of idiot would lay timbers flat and in direct contact with pavement?? Mordifying use of material."
"I am waiting for a reasonably-priced plain-Jane (nice-looking without being weird) that will get me from here to there, is fun to drive (peppy but no need for big hp/kw). It could be an ICE or hybrid as long as it burned clean (surely that's possible). A hatchback or small pick-em-up truck would be fine."
"The bubble top brought the Jetsons to mind though I won't admit to watching that cartoon.Car designers today are trying too hard for a futuristic look. "
"I don't think 'awesome' is the right term here, this is certainly different. Infrastructure in Switzerland is really 'built' -Skookum, and quite often done with flair, tastefully so in most cases. In this case, sheetmetal benches straddling Jersey wall type concrete barriers, I don't know.In one pic it seems obvious they forgot to include trash bins in the setting."
"Looking at the gate standing open, I thought at first the rock and chain made a gravity-powered gate closer, (very clever). Maybe that's correct but I can't see hinges. There's no jam so the hinges could be hook and eye anchored straight into the rocks.Need more pics to understand the engineering here."
"That was also my first impression - similar concept as the Marshmellow Sofa. That was Irving Harper working at Nelson Studio. George Nelson put his name on everything that came out of his studio."
